Program OverviewThe Associate in Science in Building Construction Technology is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to obtain employment in the highly competitive fields of architecture and construction management. Career ProspectsGraduates of this program may work with a contractor as part of the administrative team in entry-level positions that lead to more advanced jobs such as estimator, job coordinator or project manager. Technical jobs may also be available in the areas of land and project development, and technical sales focusing on building materials, systems and equipment, with state and federal government agencies or financial institutions. Students who pursue studies in this field may find employment in a number of areas and job roles such as:.

2017 NKBA School of ExcellenceThe National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) awarded a School of Excellence award to PCC's Design/Build Remodeling program for delivering excellence in education. BCT Co-Chair Hilary Campbell was recognized last year for her individual efforts. This year, the entire program was identified for recognition. Building Foundations For Your FutureFor more than thirty years, our building construction program has been training men and women to enter the construction industry as skilled professionals who enter a specialized industry.Building Construction Technology (BCT) is the only program of its kind in the Portland area offered by an accredited institution with degree options in three areas of study; hands-on construction skills, construction management, and design/build remodeling. Hands-On Residential ConstructionThe best hands-on training in Oregon also delivers a degree: our Associates Degree in Building Construction Technology combines real hands-on training with excellent classroom instruction in the latest materials and methods, sustainable building practices, and fundamentals like construction mathematics and print reading skills.

Construction ManagementPreparing project managers for Portland and beyond: our Construction Management degree prepares students for roles in management functions such as project management, estimating, and scheduling. Graduates move on to work for larger General Contractors, or apply their skills toward their own businesses. All of our CM classes are offered in the evening. Design/Build RemodelingThe only program of its kind in the US: our Design/Build Remodeling degree prepares students interested in designing, managing and constructing kitchen and bathroom renovations.

Our program has strong affiliations with local contractors and national associations including the Associated General Contractors (AGC) and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). Many of our graduates operate their own construction, remodeling and general contracting companies while others work for successful construction companies. Check out the.Greg Olson, Owner, Olson and JonesAfter graduating from Benson Tech, Greg bought a saw, and opened a business. He hasn't looked back, remodeling some of the most meticulously crafted homes in Portland. He does give back, however. Greg is one of our biggest supporters, serving on our Industry Advisory Board, Guest Lecturing, and even teaching a class when called upon to serve. You can see.Scott Work, Senior Accounts Manager, ATGScott became involved with BCT when he was a Project Manager with Skanska, and has maintained his support for years. He recently guest lectured in our BCT 225 course in the Spring of 2017.Miguel Lopez, Project Manager, JE DunnMiguel attended PCC, and he has been guest lecturing in our classes since 2008.

He was a Project Engineer on the PCC Willow Creek building, and has hosted numerous project tours over the years. Miguel, and all of our partners, appreciate that each student is an individual with their own set of skills and experiences.
